JCD teaches Jewish children the importance of Tzedakah (charity) and Chessed (acts of kindness). Through JCD's ambassador, Benjamin Bear, children become involved with activities that increase their understanding of the continuing relevance of these Mitzvot and broaden their experience of social action.
The Benjamin Bear section of the JCD website is designed to offer plenty of learning opportunities for kids and teaching tools for adults, from colouring pages for pre-schoolers to more in-depth information about the countries in which JCD operates, including stories and recipes from these diverse Jewish communities.
But, of course, it all comes down to raising money, which is why you'll also find useful information to help children do just that, including 'step-by-step' guides to holding fundraising events with downloadable posters and sponsorship forms.
This year, Benjamin Bear launched a national non-uniform day called BLUE-ISH JEWISH CHILD'S DAY where pupils were encouraged to wear blue in return for a minimum donation of £1. Schools and Chedrerim nationwide participated in this fun event. Following this success JCD will co-ordinate events like this one throughout the year.Â
